I have full access to this dir (777).

Maybe the user that apache is running under (usually 'nobody') doesn't have write access to that directory.. in which case the permissions should be changed, i.e.:
chmod a+w /usr/local/www

I'm not an expert in Linux security so this may or may not help... let me know how you get on!

That was the key :).

I forgot to "chmod 777 www".

My mistake, sorry.

I changed it now to:
'CACHE_DIRECTORY' => '/tmp/',

Works like charm.

The benchmark is reduced from 157ms to 35ms, if I use "vlibTemplateCache". Really impressive!
